Repticon: Is it the biggest and best reptile show???

So I have a couple of trips in the next 2 months that will take me as far south as Virginia Beach and Charleston, WV. I see quite a few Repticon shows around my dates that I can work in with the boys. One is the early February show in NY/Jersey Metro. Are they the best to attend and how much time should I alot to trapse through? Or should I be looking for something else? Pretty flexible on my dates. Thanks for helping me to be a professional show attender with NO snakes!

I haven’t been to the Repticon shows yet, but I’m hoping to go to the one in Norfolk, VA on Jan 26th & 27th. Opening day is always better, but I already have a commitment on the 26th so it will be day 2 if I can go. There’s another Repticon in northern Virginia in Chantilly March 15-17 that’s also a possibility.

Those are all possibilities for us also.

If you like, maybe we can meet if you come to one of these. There’s probably other folks here attending as well.

I got my first two at a Repticon show. I was like a kid in a candy store!

Repticons are great! I think repticons are usually smaller local shows all across the country, but still worth going to if you're close. There's some in every state.

The big shows that breeders fly to are like the NARBC shows, Daytona, Hamburg, and Reptile Super Show here in LA. Those are the names I see pop up pretty often at least.

Tinley (NARBC) is bigger than Repticon. Personally I avoid the Repticon expos as they make no effort to keep out the bad vendors.

There's a private expo near me that is fairly small but the promoter won't rent tables to just anyone who wants one - you have to have a good rep - and he has a waiting list of vendors.

Used to go to Repticon in South FL... The fort laud was small and Palm Beach was slightly bigger. Although I made many of my purchases at these locations, I also ran into a lot of irresponsible breeders/vendors who were selling baby bp before they had their first meal, corn babies that are so small you wish the breeder feed them and grow them a bit bigger to ensure their survival, geckos without a tail priced at full price as one with a tail to fool first time buyers, encouraging buyers to house more than 1 beardie together just so they can sell more, selling the wrong size tank or light equipment, etc. I

I did meet with a lot of good breeders too who really care where their animals are going and answering my questions, but the bad ones are mixed in between too. My first mistake was buying my bp from a breeder from Repticon who knew nothing about when it hatched, when and if it ate at all or what size or rodent (mice or rats). There were red flags I wished I had paid more attention to but in the end, fortunately it all worked out for me and my bp. Even going there for feeders are not worth it as they are extremely overpriced (ie Feedersource).

The Daytona show had a few of these vendors but the majority I talk to and checked out are more responsible with their animals. I had a lot more fun at this show too because there is so much to see.

I will look to see if there are any NARBC shows near our routes. Thanks
