    Long Term Plans....

I was doing some planning to figure out when I should be able to breed, what I should be able to breed, and what I should produce in the next few years. By my guess, I should be producing pieds and hypos in 2008...maybe 2007 if the BP gods favor me. Three years is a long time away but I can't help but think about the future.

What is everyones' long term plans are for bp breeding? Like 3-5 years down the road, what are your goals?

    Re: Long Term Plans....

this year i am going to breed:
-albino male to 2 normal females

    next year i will breed:
    - albino male to a 50% het albino girl and possibly to a 100% het if she is ready
    - pastel male to at least 2 normal females
    - hypo male at least 1 normal females and maaaaybe to a 100% het if she is ready

    the year after that:
    - albino male to 50%, 100% het and normal girls
    - pastel male(s) to normal females
    - hypo male to normals and 100% het female
    - whatever else i have picked up by then

    after that:
    - albino x albino
    - pastel x pastel
    - albino x pastel
    - hypo x hypo
    - hypo x pastel
    - etc, etc.

that's kinda just off the top of my head. i don't really have a steadfast mapped out plan (other than the one that just involves getting more balls!)

    Re: Long Term Plans....

This year I will be breeding my 50% het males to a friends adult normal females. I can't breed them to my normal females 'cause they aren't up to weight, and still won't eat. Getting quite frustrated with them. Three years form now, will be breeding my males back to the daughters I get this year. Is it much of a hassle keeping it straight, who came from whom and the father was..? I plan on making labels for their tubs and coming up with some kind of serial number plan. What I would LOVE to get are a Platinum or two (or twelve!!)! They are beautiful pythons, and the possibilities they can make just keeps growing! It will be quite a few Pied sales before I can even think of getting a Platinum, though.

Holy Wow Batman!! !! I just did some crusin' on Ralph Davis' page and came across a Lavender Albino Piebald!! What a cool combination. She is on page 12 of his 'Birthing Record', http://ralphdavisreptiles.com/birthi...pythons_12.asp about half way down. Now THAT is something to aspire to!!

    Re: Long Term Plans....

I only have the one normal male right now. He's putting on weight so fast I'm thinking he'll be ready to go next season without a problem. He's up to 340g now and he's gaining about 50g a month.

The girls that I just purchased from Adam will take a while to get up to breeding weight. 100% Het Caramel, 2 Pastels 50% Het Hypo, and 100% Het Hypo. If all goes well, in a year or so, I'll get a het hypo male, a het caramel male, a pastel het hypo male maybe, and I'm also hoping to start a pied project along with hopes to start a spider project.

So... in three years, I'm hoping to get pastels, super pastels, hypo pastels, caramels, hypos, spiders and pieds. In six to seven years, I'm hoping to get some pastel pieds, caramel pieds, spiders, bumble bees.. spider pieds would be awesome.

My girlfriend REALLY wants to start on an albino project as well. That'll have to be done with hets that I'll probably get next spring.

Got my shopping list down, Adam??

Other than that.... no plans really. lol

    Talking Re: Long Term Plans....

    3-5 years...

    Super Pastels
    Pastels
    hopefully some ghosts
on the way to making ghosts pastels

    dunno what else.

I really would like to get a pair of het piebalds, at least one albino and a spider ball someday. I dunno, I may save up and drop some $$$ on a cinnamon pastel.
I may have to put the ball project on the sidelines long enough to put down a nice deposit on a house.

I've got to get some more racks first.

    Re: Long Term Plans....

2-4 years I plan to start off small by gettig a couple het albinos then maybe pastels and then pieds, then I will start getting into different morphs. Thats when I plan on getting a business license for the reptile business I plan to have soon.
