Dang !!! That left a mark, huh

Snake bites do bleed pretty good. I got nailed by a Redtail Boa once. Her upper jaw covered the top of my hand and her lower jaw got my palm.

Some teeth bit through those big veins on top of my hand.

For some reason most of the blood pooled inside of my hand. Almost immediately I had a golf balled sized swelling on top of my hand (trapped blood under the skin), it was pretty gross !! That hand turned all kinds of pretty colors over the next week or two. And I picked out some teeth a few days after !!

I can't imagine being bit by a giant. Especially if they mean it and don't let go. Ouch !!

Re: When your retic finds rat scented cardboard..

Got tagged by my BP yesterday. Guess I got a little too close to her face while picking her up.

Purple is my favorite color, but I think I’ll pass on trying this method.

Glad you are okay and he quickly realized you weren’t the rat.

All things considered, this is a very minor bite, cosidering it was delivered by a Retic. Even for that size Retic.

I've seen some really gory pictures and read about what happened. Not sure why, but it seems that Retic bites can end up quite serious. They seem to "slice" like razors if they choose to do so. Deep wounds, sliced through tendons and arteries even. One story showed the aftermath of a bite and it looked like a murder scene. Artery was cut by a 14 foot Retic that had never, ever shown any aggression previously. It was a quick bite and release, too. Only, the Retic twisted his head before he let go, so sliced deeply. Owner was trying to move the snake for cleaning, no food response. I have also seem some gory bites (again, they sliced) delivered by relatively small Retics, around 10 foot or so?

They are gorgeous and majestic snakes. Very intelligent and aware. Lots of fun. But between the pushing issues and the potential for some serious damage should a bite occur, I will admire them from afar

ok, I'm going to post one link, but be aware, pretty graphic.

So, its a good thing Ceasar didn't twist his head around before releasing..

....well here's a Retic skull so I would certainly say that's capable of hitting an artery in the right bite location. Any giant is not to be messed with....but I would also point out that even some small snakes like GTP's have some NASTY teeth as well....like a mouth full of hypodermic needles
