    Rescued BP. Please help!

Hey there! First time BP owner here.

I just recently acquired a beautiful little girl from a not so great background. She doesn't look much larger than a hatchling and she's well over a year old. From what I've been told, she was only being fed once every few months. I want to get her on a good eating schedule to beef her up, but I'm afraid feeding her too much would stress her out.

Considering her feeding schedule has been so crazy her whole life, how often could I feed her without overwhelming her?

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have her weight? Also do you know what they were feeding her?

    Weight would be great.
I have a couple picky eaters that are about 2 years old and less than 500g.

First things first: since you're new to BPs, but presumably you've been doing some reading here?- you must know how important their set up (temps & sense of
security) is to your success in feeding...it makes ALL the difference. And may I assume that you aren't new to ALL snakes? (& do you have feeding tongs, etc?)
Help us to help you...tell us about the set-up, & welcome!

It's very likely that the frequency of feeding will be up to HER, not you, anyway. I would also remind you that we aren't seeing her as you are, and always,
ALWAYS, just don't worry about how fast you can feed her...let her body get adjusted...slow growing is fine, & for best results, no handling (none!) until after
she has fed at least 3 times for you at normal intervals (& digested). Put her needs first & things will go better...

Every 7-10 days is a good starting point. This time of year, some snakes will refuse a few meals, so if she doesn't quite want a meal yet, don't be too surprised.

Do you know what she was being fed previously? General rule of thumb is 10% of the snakes body mass.

If they had only been giving her tiny sized prey, I wouldn't go by the recommended feeding size right away. If she's been given tiny meals, a normal sized meal might make her regurge.
I would feed her what she was eating before for her first meal with you. Feed her something a bit larger the 2nd week and then offer a bit larger and that will hopefully be where she needs to be.

If at any point she does regurge, do not offer food again for 2 weeks.
