Haha I was thinking about your Instagram and astonished how many inexperienced people assume you're a newbie and volunteer their informative tips and advice on a snake they don't even own. Also agree with you that this new trend is potentially dangerous because anyone who doesn't know better will think that person is educated and experienced.

Which most of them just don't understand and get all defensive with "it was just a mistake!" Or "I was just expressing an opinion!" when they get called out for it because they can't take any accountability for their actions and how what they say can be interpreted by others.

today i saw someone post "who says snakes can't share? blah blah" or something like that with a photo of a TINY baby bearded dragon in a bath tub with a ball python. clicking through their page they proudly share they have the dragon, ball python, and a baby corn snake all living in ONE ~50gal enclosure.

    WHAT.

it took everything in my power to just move on...
I don't know why but I noticed cohabitation is extremely common on Instagram?? Like way more than I've seen anywhere else and I wonder why? It's almost unbelievable! Worst I've seen were six ball pythons in a big wooden arboreal viv with no hides.

However a ball, a beardie and a corn snake???? I think that takes the cake! Wow

Guess I'm not popular enough to get those kinds of people lmao. Good thing, too; I'd probably just get sarcastic and start some kind of internet fight.

When I first got my ball, I had several friends (with exactly zero experience or research) try to convince me that I have to feed in separate feeding container otherwise she will bite me whenever I stick my hand in. The same friends tried to convince me to feed live because it "has more nutrients than frozen and is more natural". Sigh...
Gooooosh. Yeah, let's tell someone how to look after their snake based on some random thing they heard or read somewhere in their distant memory because that's good enough information to preach about without fact checking.

Amazing. I really hate how common this is and how stubborn people are about it. Ugh I hope your friends stopped!

Absolutely 100% annoys the hell out of me. What's ironic is a lot of the care instructions they reference have been written and refined over years on sites just like BPnet. After 15 mins of reading, everyone is a self proclaimed expert.
Oh gosh this. They magically think 15 minutes of internet counts as astronomical amounts of research and they can start making their own rules without a solid foundation.

This is a blessing lol. I think out of all internet fights the ones on Instagram and YouTube are the dumbest you'll ever encounter. They always seem to dissolve into "I'm not mad YOURE MAD".

Sadly you will always have people that have owned 1 snake for a few weeks and that will try to school you (I encounter my fair share of those )

The difference with social media, everything goes and everyone is an instant expert, on forum not as much because forum are tight communities and there are ways to keep people like that in check and accountable.

I noticed this has become much more common on places like Instagram especially. Probably wouldn't annoy me as much if they didn't try to get all preachy and give random (and incorrect) advice that the original posters never asked for. Or my personal favorite; they don't even own a reptile.
Pinterest is my bugbear... I'm only on it as my daughter uses it but I find it annoying as there are hundreds of snake photos but so many are photoshopped with the amazing colour schemes .. many claiming they are the real colours !!

    Aghhhhhhh !!!!

    Also Instagram

Now this may be genuine or just touched up but this is a dullard compared to the crazy colours I see regularly
