What is this?

Ok, now I think the scales are still on there, since the blood is also under half of a scale that is definitely still there.

It looks like a injury happened and the blood seeped between scales and skin, making the scales stuck to the skin. Is there any blood in the bag?

I would definitely try to gently clean it. Do you have a weak iodine solution? If not, clean with water and antibacterial soap and then put some neosporin (without pain relief) on it, or any other anitbacterial ointment (again, without pain relief)

After that, like its been said, on paper towels in a setup that has no decorations in it..

No there was no blood. I picked him up at Reptile Factory. He was in their store. I saw him a few weeks ago and he was fine. I'm guessing something happened when they got him out of the log he was wedged into so I could take him home. Again he was already in the bag when I got there.

I have a large female that went off feed for 6 months, she has been back on for a couple months and didnt gain/loose weight, she hasn’t shed now in 7 months and she is dry as a bone along her sides even though she takes a bath now and then. She has a few spots that dry scales have discoloration & inflammation and also where she is wrinkled 24/7 from being coiled/bent in her hide. Ive noticed a couple spots that looked similar to this that just dried up after a couple weeks however i can still see the old blood marks in between the scales. I think after a shed she will be fine. It looks to me like yours has a simple scale injury. Ive seen similar marks from people catching a scale when taking their snake out of a aquarium with a sharp plastic ring around the edge. Id just keep a eye on it and let the breeder know incase there is a future problem.

That is probably what happened then!

Honestly, on his color its kind of hard NOT to see this spot, so I'm not sure how they could have missed it when they bagged him up. They did probably pull him out of something and he scraped hard in the opposite direction of how the scales lay on the body. Enough to cut the skin.

It doesn't look like a old injury, the blood is still bright red. They should have told you and then given you advice how to treat it. They will probably say they didn't notice it..

Do let them know, just in case you might have issues with it later on.

Most likely it will heal up nicely. Until it does, keep him as sterile as possible, and put a bit of antibiotic ointment on it every day. Its sticky, so it will stay on him.

It's oddly round & doesn't look like a typical scrape to me, but I don't think it's anything serious either; I'd use some topical antiseptic & keep an eye one it

Not to cause any alarm, and by no means am I a vet, but this looks similar to a minor fungal infection in humans. For some reason these infections in humans are usually round or rounded in shape and have brighter red irritation around the edge of them.

Now I'm not even sure if this is possible in snakes, but the resemblance was so close I figured I'd bring that up and see if anyone knows any more about fungal infections in snakes?

I actually have seen a fungal infection on a BP but it looked nothing like this; but that in NO way rules it out...IMO. The only type of fungal infection I've seen was
on a BP & it was the type where individual scales got dry & shriveled-up looking; it responded to the topical anti-fungal that was prescribed for it. But I do know what
you're talking about (in humans, tinea versicolor or tinea corporis) & I'm not sure if this could be that or not?

I would say that a vet check is in order IF this doesn't seem to improve with topical antiseptic treatment. Also, I think it looks worse just because it's
on a white snake.
