    Any Longicauda Keepers?

    Hello all,

I'm currently in the process of purchasing a longicauda (or pair) from a breeder.. So excited. I've been wanting BCLs for a long time now and eventually would like to breed them.

I thought I'd post and see if there were any BCL keepers here on the forum. If you are currently a keeper, which line is your BCL? What are your thoughts on how they compare to keeping BCI? I currently have a common hypo BCI, a BCA, and a CA BCI. All of my current boas are what I'd consider to be "pet quality" animals and although I do enjoy keeping them as pets, I'm looking forward to purchasing animals with establishing a breeding program in mind.

Right now, I'm trying to decide between purchasing Russo yellow line animals and an anery animal. Once I've finalized my purchase, I can guarantee that there will be many pics posted.

If you have any feedback or input on keeping or selecting BCL or any thoughts on them in general, I'd love to hear it.
    Currently keeping:
    1.0 BCA 1.0 BCI
    1.0 CA BCI 1.1 BCLs
    0.1 BRB 1.2 KSBs
    1.0 Carpet 0.5 BPs
    0.2 cresteds 1.2 gargs
    1.0 Leachie 0.0.1 BTS

    Re: Any Longicauda Keepers?

    Hi
I have a pair of bcl from a German hsstockle line there really nice , great snakes and amazing colours, they nice and easy to keep, I keep BCI and BCC also and not much difference, they great to handle ,the female would eat every day if she could but the make normally only drop feeds in the dark but it always gone within half hour of popping it in
These are mine, the female is alot more silver than the male but I really love them ,these have never hissed or nipped and been super chilled from the start, hope this helps

Very nice Richard! I love those large spears on their head.

I believe Sauzo has one (Louie?) as well.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Thanks for your comments everyone! Richard- Your two are great looking animals, I especially love the coloration on the female. I've seen some photos of other stockl animals online and I really like his line of BCL. It is too bad people aren't working with them here in the states.

I'm on a notification list for a breeder that works with denton / meltzer line anery BCL for next year also. I'm beginning to think that I'll get a pair of yellow line animals from this breeder and then get the anery pair from the other breeder next year...I'm waiting for additional pics from the breeder I'm talking to now.

    Re: Any Longicauda Keepers?

I have a juvenile Bessette line BCL. She's still very small, and I'm not sure how she'll change color-wise as she grows, but I'm excited to find out.

She's much more interesting looking in person. My phone doesn't do a good job of capturing her coloration. She's already starting to get some black speckles.

Best of luck in your search, and I can't wait to see photos!

Well, I have an update. I just sent payment in for a 1.1 pair of Russo yellow line BCL. They are from unrelated parents and bred by Scott Miller. I won't be getting them until after new years (due to shipping and weather delays) and I can't wait. I will post pics below.

    Female

    Male

I will update once I receive them. If anyone is looking for a BCL, Scott still has some available.
