Split the "Giant Pythons" forum into sub-sections?

Just an idea/suggestion. Could we split the "Giant Pythons" forum into separate groups? The way it sits a Scrub Python for example could be placed in either the Morelia or Giant Python section as it fits both descriptions.

    Burmese Pythons
    Reticulated Pythons
    Yellow/Green Anacondas

It just seems like Retic owners do their own thing and Burm owners do their own thing as well. Would be nice to have new groups.

I like the more general parameters. To me any snake over 10ft qualifies as a giant. Seems like you'd have to have too many categories if you split them up. Where would you put Rock Pythons or Olive Pythons?
    3.0 Carpet Pythons, 1.1 Bullsnakes
1.0 Olive Python 1.0 Scrub Python,
    1.0 BI, 0.1 BCO

Re: Split the "Giant Pythons" forum into sub-sections?

To be fair I can't remember seeing a rock or indian python on this forum ever, could include the olives with Morelia as they're both Aussie. Idk.

    Could have

    Burms

    Retics

    Misc Giants

I'd just like the division between the two for ease of accessing information. When you group scrubs, burms, retics, and condas into one it just gets a little confusing to find what you want.

The reason why some sub forums are condensed is because of the lack of activity, over the years we have condensed some sub forums and expended others, I will submit your request in the mod forum.

Re: Split the "Giant Pythons" forum into sub-sections?

Anacondas already have their own forum. Besides, they aren't pythons.

IMO, it would be enough to just subtitle the Giant Snakes forum as reticulated python, African python, and Burmese/Indian python. The scrub python might also be included if others desire. I prefer the Morelia forum for them, but I can be flexible. I don't consider any others as giant pythons. YMMV.

Back in the 1960s, Clifford Pope wrote a book titled "The Giant Snakes". It included the retic, African, Burmese/Indian, and scrub pythons, plus the green anaconda, and boa constrictor. Since then, it turns out that the record length boa constrictor was a misidentified green anaconda. The next record longest snake was the king cobra, and Pope put his cut just above the KC.

I appreciate the amount of activity that the Giant Pythons forum gets these days, therefore I would consider splitting it into a few different groups. Separate forums for Burmese Pythons and Reticulated Pythons makes sense. Perhaps any giant pythons that do not fit into those groups could go into the General Pythons forum. I don't think there is enough need for a third giant python forum designation to make that worthwhile. Please continue to discuss so we can work out what will work best.

Re: Split the "Giant Pythons" forum into sub-sections?

Sounds great, those are the two sections I would prefer to have split. Especially with some of the Lacey act additions now lifted and Burms being legal to ship. So they're making a comeback.

It just seems like Retic owners do their own thing and Burm owners do their own thing as well. Would be nice to have new groups.

how so? scrub pythons have been reclassified out of the Morelia genus and have become their own genus Simalia - it would therefore seem inaccurate to put them in the Morelia subgroup
    het for nothing but groovy
