No shed in almost 11 weeks!

Hey all, I have a 480g male ball python that is under a year old. Temperature gradient of 88/90-78/80 and humidity is a constant 70%. He seems to have been hiding a lot the last couple of weeks and has refused his last two meals. He hasn’t shed in 74 days and no going into blue yet! Why do you all think it is taking him so long to shed??

Snakes shed when they grow. How does your snake's weight compare to 74 days ago?

Was 287 grams 71 days ago. So he has grown a lot!

What are you feeding him? How often?

Is it possible he has gone blue & has now gone "clear" & will shed soon? You realize, I assume, that snakes go back to "clear" (ie. look normal) shortly before they
actually shed. How often have you checked in on him?

(I was typing before your 2nd & informative post...)

Almost double the weight in a little over 2 months.
Should be shedding any time now and probably full too.

Re: No shed in almost 11 weeks!

I usually check on him every day or every other day. I haven’t been handling him though lately because he has refused his last two meals.. I feed him rats that are 10-15% of his weight every 7 days. It’s possible he went blue and I didn’t see it, but I’d imagine he’ll be shedding really soon! I do suppose that I thought that two weeks ago and he still hasn’t though lol.

I guess you'll just have to grit your teeth & be patient... not much you can do but wait, lol.

That is a rather long time in between sheds.

    But...it is what it is

I bet he will be shedding within days.
