Re: Meet Bridget, our new Granite IJ carpet python!

Thank you everyone! I spent way too much much time secretly watching her explore her cage at around 11 pm yesterday. It was feeding night for the younger half of our snakes tonight, so we offered Bridget a mouse, not sure if she'd take it. It took a couple of minutes but then she got it and is currently eating upside down.

Re: Meet Bridget, our new Granite IJ carpet python!

I caught Bridget shedding late last night and managed to get a photo. Pulled her out briefly today to make sure she looked good, as it was her first shed with us, and to spot clean her cage. Tonight is feeding night, so here's hoping that she's worked up an appetite and takes her second meal.

    WhompingWillow,

She's a beauty. Looking really nice after her shed.

Please let us know if she ate tonight, when you have a chance.

I am pretty sure she ate! It's exciting because I didn't think she was going to. I offered the mouse and you could tell she was interested, but she just wouldn't go for it. I tried offering and rewarming for a solid 10 minutes before I laid it next to her and covered her tank with a blanket, thinking maybe she is just a shy eater.

I checked about 20 minutes later and couldn't find the mouse. Woo hoo! I also see that she has a little bit of a bulge, so I'm thinking she ate vs. the mouse falling down and getting lost somewhere.

Hopefully with time and a few good meals she'll gain some confidence.
