    First Bite

Got bit for the first time ever by my banana Ball Python, about two weeks before I'd have had him for a year.

I jokingly called him a grump butt afterwards, but it was my fault. I spooked him awake doing cage maintenance and then hovered my hand too long in the strike zone--- I was wary but not having been bit or even stuck at before by him made me not back away like I should've, I thought he'd chill out like he usually does.

Alas, he got me right on the palm. I decided to leave him alone for the time being and a few mental notes to be more careful next time.

    Here's the bite: https://i.imgur.com/e9i4p7x.jpg

A little bit! It really does feel like pin pricks.

I wasn't expecting how fast it'd be. Visually, I don't think I'd been able to tell I got bit. It was the sudden noise and sting on my palm that got me "oh, I just got bit!".

I've had a few of those .... if the area starts hurting / itching in a week's time have a close look and you may find some tiny teeth under your skin working their way to the surface .. loosen with a sterile needle and pull them out with tweezers then apply some antiseptic ..

Congrats on your bite, lol...more startling than painful, huh? Just a misunderstanding...next time you'll be more aware of how your snake is perceiving whatever
    you're doing.
