I never thought that Frontline could be used on snakes to remove mites! Are we talking about the same Frontline used on dogs and cats to prevent fleas?? I hate those darn mites... I hope Cookie recovers soon!

Yes it is the same frontline.

The spray bottle form. I can post a pic or link if you’d like.

I didnt know either but seems to be the only true product that can be used on any animal.

I hope it works. I really hoped this never happened but you never know what someone will send you.

    I've read about it & saw someone's video using it, but I remain skeptical*...glad I don't have any need for a mite-fight.

*I'd like to know what the long-term survival is for snakes it's used on...it's still too early to know that, IMO. Damage doesn't always show up immediately, and
just because the snake still seems OK doesn't mean it truly is. (ever hear of asbestos? many other examples in humans too...it's the same idea for our pets.)

Then what do you suggest doing ...? Not treating it?

ive heard great stuff about provent a mite and horror stories as well and other products.

Again sucky situation and not one I caused or asked for. I have 9 snakes. 8 have been fine this one gets sent to me with an issue. Have to try something.

Hardly...that's not what I said. In another thread on the subject I mentioned that mites & wasps are the only things I'd use pesticide to kill, but still it's a LAST resort.
And I agree, I've heard both sides about "PAM" too. Personally, I'd first get rid of all the mites I could by bathing in mildly soapy water. The last time I battled mites
was so long ago that the current products weren't made yet (fyi). I'd be inclined to try diatomaceous earth to kill mites...it's said to work on fleas, ants & bedbugs,
& as far as I know wouldn't hurt snakes...do some reading for yourself on it...& please do share your thoughts? (In fact it might be helpful to start a thread
asking if anyone has tried & had success on mites using diatomaceous earth. I'd love to know, even though it's unlikely I'll add any snakes or mites here.)

I have never ever heard of that stuff but I will look into it for sure.

Sorry i I was asking more as a rhetorical question not suggesting you were saying that...

i hope this works and I never have to worry about it again. I will keep reporting in an effort to help others who have to deal with this mess literally dropped on their door step

I don't blame you for being stressed...I would be too. But don't let the urgent need to be mite-free make you grab for the nearest toxic mite-killer...as they say
in medicine, "first, do no harm".

And by the way, I'm sure you can order diatomaceous earth online, but I bought mine locally at the health food store, since some people (not me) also think
it's good to ingest??? But you should also be able to find it in home improvement stores, & feed stores. FYI it's added to corn/grain in storage so the weevils
don't eat their crop before they can sell it!).
