Anyone able to tell me what this is?.

Im a little concerned i went to check on my new ball python today. I picked her up to check her out for any signs of anything. I noticed when i picked her up i seen this. First thing i did was took a picture. I have eco earth in her tub im going to remove it tonight and put paper towel down untill it heals up. Im not sure if this is scale rot or maybe just a cut from something. I just got her friday and she said she was fed thursday so is it possible the rat bit her she was being fed large live rats from the previous owner. If anyone knows what this is and how to treat it i would appreciate that. Going to gice her a bath to remove all dirt before i put her back in after i take eco earth out and put paper towels in.

It looks like it could be a bite. A gentle soak in some lukewarm water and clean towels for bedding would be a good idea to start. I would think you could use a little neosporin if you have the type without pain medication in it. Definitely keep an eye on it. I’ve never seen scale rot, so hopefully someone else can chime in on that for you.

No one can tell for sure what you're looking at until you clean it up...it appears to be a wound of some sort that has substrate stuck on it...what we cannot tell from
the photo is whether or not it's a fresh wound or an old one. Either way, clean it up, keep snake on clean paper for now, & use either Neosporin ointment (only the
kind WITHOUT pain relief) or Betadine solution (aka Povidone-Iodine) as an antiseptic IF it's at all a fresh wound. It might just be an older healing wound (rat bite?)
that got damp, & then substrate stuck to it.

Looks like a bite to me. The advice above is great.

Keep an eye out over the next couple of months. If you see any pink or red spotting or and major lethargy, she may need a trip to the vet for some antibiotics.

If I was betting, I’d put my money on a bite.

Is there anything she could get hung up on in the enclosure maybe? Almost looks like she got stuck on something while sliding around.
