    Update on little Crestie Smeagol

    Well...

He is not so little anymore!
I just weighed him and he comes in at 45 gr! Wow. When I got him end of March he was a wee little 11 gr Gecko

And it's official. As much as he only wanted his Dubia roaches in the beginning and packed on the grams, he now prefers his Crested Gecko diet. Still picky on flavor, but he eats it every time. He hates Crickets. He took one because it moved. And held it in his mouth forever..haha.. Then he refused to even look at them. Did the same with the Dubias.

I guess my baby is all grown up now..

Beautiful little, not so little guy, great to hear he’s doing so well. Thanks for sharing. I’m not much for eating bugs myself, lol.

What was that again about friends and peer pressure ??? LOL I have actually been eye balling Chahoua Geckos. I LOVE that neon green with pink coloration that some of Pine Island ones have. But gosh, I have to many animals as is. (the horse takes up a huge chunk of time, money, energy..lol) But I wouldn't be to upset if one of them just so happened to follow me home

I used to worry so much about Smeagol. He really is a little diva when it comes to food. I worried so much when he only wanted Dubias, that I made them the healthiest Dubias in the world. They ate better then I did !! And...sometimes I would put some Crested Gecko Diet on top of the Dubias, so that Smeagol would have to eat some of that, LOL. Now I figure I worried over nothing. He now eats the CGD just fine, prefers it actually. He is big, but not fat (yet, lol). I've seem some impressively FAT Crested Geckos, and I rather he doesn't start to look like that. So I will keep a careful eye on his waist line.

Your new Leachie is the bomb, they truly are the Kings and Queens of the Rhacs. I absolutely adore your new one. I can't wait until you post more pictures, your photography is so artistic. I'm sure they will tempt me considering one of those Prize animals, too.

Really, I should just give up trying to have any kind of normal life and turn my home into a Zoo. I have a feeling when I'm old I will be found dead one day, half buried under pet/reptile paraphernalia, half eaten by said pets/reptiles.

He does. I hope and pray he will keep it but i have heard that they sometimes drop it for no apparent reason. Or for a very silly reason, something that never startled them before.

Even heard of a 10 year old Crestie deciding to drop his tail. It was found in the morning. Again, no reason could be established.
I have also heard that in the wild just about all of the adult Cresties have no tail. Well, actually they do have one after dropping the "big" one. Its a tiny stump, LOL.

I know I will be sad when it is gone and he will look quite different. But with Cresties, it seems to be one of those things you can't really control 100%.

He is such a handsome big boy now!

Is is it normal for them to go off live and just eat their smoothy when they become adults?
