    Re: Always wanted an Albino

At 100G or so, I'd be defensive too! Especially after what he went through to get to you!

He's little and I agree with Dianne, with gentle handling, and hook training, long-term, you shouldn't have to worry. He should calm down a ton for you!

Again, Good Luck and keep us posted!

Yep, that’s the plan. I really try to key into the tension when I do handle my snakes. I’m really pleased with how docile my other snakes are, so I will do what I have done with them. I believe he will mellow right out over time and be easy going puppy dog like. But yeah can’t imagine being stuck in an airplane and then the flight and all that while being tied up in a bag that’s in a box. Oh boy.

Well, he is much calmer today, removed some rate and poop with out any hissing or strikes. He did look up and put his head back down then later was exploring a little so to be sure I checked temps and all is good.
Officially I have named him Prometheus, I think it’s just unique enough and has some color to it. Giving him space to adjust.

    Re: Always wanted an Albino

Prometheus is going to be an awesome guy. Great name.

He had a very stressful day yesterday! Very glad he's calming down already.

Even if he's adjusting and on quarantine, I would still remove him briefly to clean the tank. Not that he can do much damage, but I never clean Behira's tank with her in it. If I open the tank, she's either getting fed, or hook rubbed and then coming out. I don't want to ask for trouble .

What I do with new animals is take them out and put them right in a holding container while I clean the tank. I do not handle, except to move from enclosure to holding container, and then back.

I do not like cleaning any of the snake tanks while they are in them, but Shayna BP, and the corn snakes, will let me remove the water dish and clean, etc. They are in pretty big tanks though, so I usually don't even see them. 99% of the time, I do remove them though.

That’s actually great protocol, would serve me well to start that also. Get in the habit while every one is relatively small. I was able to grab it in one grab with tongs while he was wedged between side of tub an his hide opposite side of where the poop was so I did it quick and left him alone. Harley Quinn usually rides around on my shoulder during poop/urate policing and any water issues.

Quick shot as I took him out to clean his bowl. I guess you could call it his coming out picture.

Yeah no more hissing or strikes. He is completely different now and other than cage cleaning he gets a lot of alone time. I feed Harley Quinn tomorrow so I may offer Prometheus, I would like to keep the same schedule.
Can’t agree more Richard, the eyes are something else. But Boa eyes are phenomenal in my opinion no matter what. I beleive it’s you Nicaragua with red eyes. So cool.
