Snake with an eating disorder!
For some reason my little one insists on eating
rear end first! Anyone else have this problem? She didn’t used to do this then the last 4 times she has ate has been rat ham time.
Sorry for the bad picture. Best I could get through the glass.

Re: Snake with an eating disorder!
As far as I know, snakes depend on heat signatures to tell where their prey is and how their prey is oriented. The rear end could be warmer than usual, and your BP might've mistaken it's butt for a head I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about, as long as they get it down. Pylox has eaten small rats backwards and he's fine right now, so just make sure he gets it into his belly and actually digests it

Mine has eaten butt first too. First time scared the crap out of me because I thought it would get stuck. No worries.

Many snakes do that every now & then, it seems dumb but very few really have a problem as a result, so not to worry.

My snakes pretty much take food from the tongs, but I have one that, no matter which end of the rat I offer, wants the OTHER end? Goofy snakes...some just have
to be contrary. Or maybe they're showing off?

It's pretty awkward when your eyeballs are positioned on the sides of your head so that while you can see a predator about to swoop down, you can't actually see the food in front of your face very well. Plus you don't have any hands to maneuver it with. It takes a lot of practice and sometimes you get it wrong. And if it's a small enough meal, maybe it just doesn't matter enough to bother with all that maneuvering.
