    First Expo Pick-Up

So I have been considering getting a carpet python for a long time now. Reading through numerous thread, wanting something bigger and more active, all led to this pick-up. I went to my first reptile expo today in White Plains, NY and could not leave without this girl.

She is a jungle/ocelot cross produced by Scattershot Exotics. Brought her home and she weighed 223g. Currently have her in a 24x18x12 Exo terra which will eventually be for my western hognose female. I plan on ordering an AP T-8, T-10, or T-12 within the next week. Which one would you guys recommend?

If you have the money, I'd do the T12. The beight will let you make some cool branches and things for your new noodle. They're semi-arboreal and will definitely make use of vertical space.

My guy is a coastal and my ultimate plan is to get the AP A20, which is a 4'x2'x3' cage, so just an extra foot taller.

I have a sky hide installed for my little guy in a 30"x16"x15" PVC cage that he'll have till he's big enough for an upgrade. (Currently only about 70g)
He enjoys hanging out up there and on various branches and perches in his cage.

I’ll have to figure out how to create the sky hide. I’ve seen several others post it and it was one of the reasons I was fascinated by carpets. I will most likely go with the T-12 to encourage climbing as much as possible. Hardest thing so far has been not handling her but I know I have to let her settle in.

I grabbed some of those mirror mounts for bathrooms. The ones you use for non-framed mirrors.

I got these, and it seems to be a snug but good fit for RBI hides:

The hide in my picture is an RBI small held up with just 2, one on each side.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the link. Do you think cage locks are necessary?

I agree with pretends2bnormal, get a A20. Your carpet will love a cage with that much height.

    Re: First Expo Pick-Up

I like to use the cage locks, if only for my peace of mind. It is the only possible way out of a PVC cage like an AP unless you tried putting in something small enough to squeeze out of the vents or something major happens to cause broken glass or damage to the PVC.

And it gives me a good, quick way to check that they're all closed tight after handling or maintenance.

    Your pick up is awesome
Thanks! I honestly have said I was gonna go a bunch of times but never ended up making it there. This was different because my girlfriend was getting me a Christmas gift, which is how I ended up with Loki
