What kind of Lizard is this?

Saw it at the Beach in North Florida. I was thinking Brown Anole, but the coloration and face seem a bit different?

Could it be some kind of young iguana? But again, facial structure seems different?

I'm probably wrong but that looks like some kind of monitor to me??? Reminds me of a young Nile or Mangrove????

It's a brown anole. I see tons of them.

There are many herps loose in Florida that aren't indigenous, so while I hope it's something that belongs there, you can't rule out non-natives.

I live in South Alabama, we have TONS of anoles, geckos, skinks, etc.

Something about that one just looks different to me. The pattern isn't quite right for a brown anole? Also, the mouth seemed longer and wider. Seemed "fleshier" overall, too.

But I'm sure there are aberrant colors/patterns with those as well. So it could very well be one of those.

I have to say, the face did remind me of some sort of monitor, but the body doesn't.

So I dunno, LOL !!!

It is indeed an anole, though there are a few possibilities as to the species. I'd say brown but it looks a bit too large.

Just came across a youtube video where someone caught a brown anole. That one did indeed look a lot like what I have seen, only smaller. Maybe the one I saw was a good sized adult

You can see the ridge on its back. That's why some people call the brown anole "dragon lizards".
