August was a very busy month! The Summer Reading Challenge at work wrapped up, I went out of town for almost three weeks... And Horatio celebrated his first birthday on August 16th! I wasn't home for the occasion, but he spent most of his post-birthday days in a happy food coma, which is probably just how he wanted to spend them.
He's grown quite a bit in the past two or three months, and now that I don't have a multi-week trip hanging over my head, the time has come to attempt to switch him to rats. I had purchased one rat with my last mice for when I got back, but his snake sitter forgot it wasn't a mouse and fed it to him while I was gone. Happily, he apparently ate it vigorously, so I'm hoping this means the switch will be easy for both of us.
Tonight he spent the evening learning about carpet, exploring the entertainment center, and startling himself by knocking over a cat toy (cat was secure in another room). I ordered his T10 before I left, and am very much looking forward to having the RHP to keep the ambient temps more stable this winter.
