Bob and Shiva on a hunger strike.... not worried at all.

Neither of them ever have missed a meal until now. Both are healthy. 3 weeks now off food. Both have pooped and are healthy weight and husbandry is spot on. Just that time of year. I did back off on handling them to cleanings and once a week for short time slots. They are moving around at night some and that is normal for them. Such great noodles. This is just to document their change in behavior. Last attempt I did offer smaller prey but still not interest. Monty said "Thanks for the snack guys" LOL.

Mine usually start right around the end on December, and go a good four months with maybe one feeding or so. I have all males. They’ve been pretty consistent about it too. Right now they’re eating every 5 to 6 days one jumbo mouse. And soon enough I’ll be offering seconds.

Good thread for some newbies to see!!
It should hopefully ease their minds when their snakes start refusing.

...and also a good endorsement for keeping more than one snake!! Somebody needs to eat the refusals!! Hahahaha!!

Happens every year for me as well.

One of my girls goes on strike for at least a few months a year. Longest iv'e ever had was 9 months. I weighed her each month and made sure she had fresh water.

Re: Bob and Shiva on a hunger strike.... not worried at all.

This is week 3 for Bob and week 4 for Shiva. Both still healthy and holding weight nicely. I even offered smaller prey last night to see if any interest. Nope. Shiva acted interested at first but then just sat there staring at it all S ed up and not even a strike. Double check my husbandry every day. So far so good. Bob is just curled up. He peeked out for a moment and then went back in his cool hide. Nope not interested. LOL. Haven't handled them in a week. Not worried. Just keeping track.

Looks like the hunger strike might be coming to an end? Both eat yesterday. Yay.

Shiva is eating weekly again but Bob is still random with his eating habits. Almost a month and half of him not eating at this point. Not worried. Less than 10 grams of weight loss. He looks like he is hunting and then I offer and he hides from it, crawls over it, runs from it..... Silly boy.

Re: Bob and Shiva on a hunger strike.... not worried at all.

Shiva is slamming rats again and with gusto. Bob is being picky as hell and can not get him to eat live, FT, or pre-killed. He took a live rat crawler 2 weeks ago and that has been his only meal for 4 months. Total loss of weight is less than 20g. He still looks healthy and is active. Husbandry has not changed just the seasons. He has gained almost 4 inches in length and is little more than 2 and half feet now weighing in at 869g. He is very active at night. Shiva is active when hungry.
