    Time between breeding

How long does it take to rebreed a ball python after she lays a clutch? A friend had an unexpected Ball Python clutch a few days ago and she wants to sell me the Mom. We may be purchasing it, and I want her to be able to settle in, regain her weight, and be back to her normal weight for the next time she breeds. Is it a full 12 months before I should start breeding her again if she regains her weight or what is the appropriate time?

They can be bred annually, assuming they start eating and get back up to their pre-lay weight or even larger by next season.

I only breed my females every other year though.

    Re: Time between breeding

Oh ok. Neat to know. I've kinda heard that elsewhere just wanted to verify. Should I start pairing her with a male the same month? (ex. she laid 9\18 should I start pairing her again 9\19)? I don't want her to be unhealthy. That is assuming she is back to her correct weight by that time of course.

They often have the same annual cycle. If she laid in the last few weeks then she ovulated a few months ago, so I would start pairing her in April/May next year in case she goes early.
