    Re: Update: Giacomo 1.0 Hypo

Well we weren’t such a good boy today. He came out, took a bath, pissed then hung out with me for 30min... when I went to put him back he Lunged off the floor, stuck about 2.5 feet and missed getting my shirt.... he is always calm and cool so idk why this happened... i didnt startle him and he was climbing all over me before that.... I’ve heard a few breeders say they are having Hypo’s and Caramels act up quiet a bit. The fact that I had no warning bothers me.. i always read my snakes and move carefully not to spook them... my Big Albino & Normal never struck at me. Im back to thinking these Morphs have changed temperaments. I guess its possible they are closer to wild type unlike Albinos who have been bred for decades in captivity :/
    Any thoughts?

Hahahah... well within a few days of this happening he is in Full Blue. Ive always handled him during the shed weeks to establish trust, but i can say there have been plenty of days that I have snapped at people when not feeling well or just feeling Pissy hahahaha

Well, we have all had bad days.

However, you might have a point with the generations of certain morphs vs others.

Having said that, since you have worked with him and he's doing well, I would aim more towards a bad day.

This does highlight the importance of working with snakes when young, and on a continual basis, to establish trust.

I handle my female BCI (who will easily be the biggest snake I have) pretty regularly, and more than my smaller species. Given her adult size, I want to know her inside and out and vice versa.

It also shows that they are wild animals and can be unpredictable. We tend to anthropomorphize too often and forget that.

I agree... I know the Retic Keepers have their opinions on what morphs are more flighty along with different locales.
The best thing for us to all remember is no matter how much Baby Talk we might do these are wild as you say.... and we should never drop our guard especially with Larger Constrictors.

    Re: Update: Giacomo 1.0 Hypo

Its been about 4-5 months since I’ve updated. Jock is around 6’ now and has calmed right down. He’s a male so he still watches me closely and I make sure not to do certain things he doesn’t care for.. god knows us males have 2 speeds, Relaxed or Defensive. I prefer to respect him and do everything in a way that keeps him calm. With that said he’s a great Boy.

He looks great CP! One beautiful boy. Good pics, I love seeing him stretched out.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
