Sacramento Area - Single Reptile Lover

    Hello Hobbyists,

I recently relocated to the Sacramento area in March, and am thinking of attending the upcoming show. I am going to one-soon to be two-colleges to pursue multiple degrees and certifications that are animal and reptile focused. I work for a reptile breeder/vendor, and came across an old thread from this site that showed the possibility of finding “the one” whose passions jive with mine. So, here’s a little introduction to say hi. I am open to relocating anywhere once I complete my academic goals. I just thought I’d pop in and say “where’s my perfect person that’s just as obsessed with scalies as I am?”

Hello and welcome. I don’t know about perfect people, but there are a lotta good people on here. Knowledgeable and entertaining. Hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for eventually, but I am sure you can make a couple friends on here.

I can’t post pics from work unfortunately, but I’ll give this a better response when I’m not on a brief 10 minute break.

Alright, sorry about the rushed reply earlier. I used to have a nice assortment of exotics, however, life happened, and I had to rehome my collection. I am holding off on rebuilding my collection for now, because I plan to travel while working toward my academic goals, and that could include both national and international fieldwork. I’m enrolled in an associates degree level program online, pursuing veterinary technology, and plan to select a veterinary practice that at least sees reptiles. As of this Spring, I will be enrolling in an additional college locally, pursuing an associates in environmental science with intent to transfer to UC Davis for a bachelors in Animal Biology. I anticipate beyond that there will be a wait period to proceed toward a Doctorate in veterinary medicine-as UC Davis is ranked among the finest DVM programs in the world. While awaiting beginning that, I intend to relocate to where a veterinary practice is that has one of only two board certified herpetology specialist vets in the country to work as a tech. Upon graduation, I intend to become a vet. Seven years after that, I intend to take the board certification for reptiles and amphibians. The ONLY thing that might stop the vet path, is if I manage to land a job as a specialist zookeeper in reptiles. I am also volunteering with three animal based nonprofits. So, to say I love animals, miiiiiight be an understatement, heh. Now to find a sweetheart who will support my obsession and passion, who loves the idea of an entire house full of exotics (especially herps!).

Davis is a nice, lil college town. i used to live in the Bay and sometimes would go up there to Sophia's Thai Kitchen. they have good food and a patio for live music. also my friend treaux also lives in the Bay and his vet is also at UC-Davis. it's very ambitious (and it seems a lil crazy) to be enrolled in 2 colleges at the same time, but u seem hihgly motivated and have clear goals, so i think you're off to a good start!

I've been told that being a little crazy is a prerequisite to being female, so I must be doing it right! Heh.
