Artemis - our new BCL (Peruvian Long-Tail Boa)

I feel like ball pythons are the gateway drug to snakes in general.

We've added a second boa to our lives! Here is Artemis, our boa constrictor longicauda aka BCL aka Peruvian long-tail boa. She's a Bessette line and I can't wait to see how her coloring changes over the next few years.

We had her out briefly after unboxing to examine her. She's soon tiny. Nice and calm so far. Now to let her settle and get a few meals in her.

I think any & all snakes are "gateway drugs" though, at least for me. Congratulations on your new family-member, awesome choice!

Thanks guys! We are super excited to have her. Hoping she finds her hides soon, but I guess plants will do for now.

Did a quick check of Artemis and her enclosure and snapped a few photos. I love the texture and sheen of her scales - she literally shimmers in certain lighting.

Re: Artemis - our new BCL (Peruvian Long-Tail Boa)

Artemis is a beauty! It is so fun to watch them grow and the colors change. Some of my boas got lighter and brighter, others got a little darker, all of them were lovely to me.

I have to agree with Bogertophis...my first snake was a Colombian redtail, then a ball python. I went hog wild for a few years from there and had lots of different boas and pythons and a few corns. I had 42 snakes at one time when I was breeding my Colombian redtail and Cuban boas (not to each other!). I’m down to just 12 pets now.
