Re: Hognose feeding and temp questions
He should probably have a hotspot of 90~ degrees on one end hooked into a thermostat. Our hognoses go there to digest after snacks.

No it's not OK hognose have very specific requirements and while ambient can be in the low 80's you do need to have a hot spot between 90 and 92
As far as feeding they have a very fast metabolic and because pinkies are insignificant it is important to feed them appropriately (a common mistake is not to feed enough) until the animal is 25 grams I recommend to feed every 3 to 4 days, then every 5 days when they are between 25 to 75 grams and finally once a week after that.
With that regimen they usually reach 50/75 grams by the time they are a year old. (Males being on the lower side)

So I weighed and fed him today. 14g, so tiny. And he ate great even though I handled right before. When he gets to 25g, would I start feeding two pinkies at once?
Just to clarify, he does have a hot spot that usually reads around 90 on top of his rock hide. But does he need a heat mat, too? I will definitely hook it up before winter but right now my house is so hot.
