    Anyone remember .....?

Hello all, a few years ago I remember seeing there was a company that made UTH's with a built-in rheostat/dimmer right on the cord. Anyone remember who this might be?

    Can't seem to find them.

I honestly don't know why that's not a common product

Exactly! I remember seeing them and thinking ....wow, that will totally eliminate single sales of UTH's if it takes off. Apparently it never did. Kills two birds with one stone.

I just don't get it. I don't know why a reputable company hasn't made this a staple in the industry. It seems like a no-brainer of a gold mine. If I had the first clue how to manufacture such a product I can guarantee you I wouldn't be cooking for a living any more!

Two potential points of failure: the UTH could fail or the rheostat/thermostat could fail. It would really only appeal to someone with one snake, or to someone who needed just one enclosure for a specific purpose, like quarantine. Most thermostats can handle the electrical load for several UTH's.

You can find UTH/thermostat combo units under the brand name VIVOSUN on Amazon, but if you look at the price, purchasing one costs about the same as getting the UTH and thermostat separately.

I could PM you with an idea that would sell even more than that if implemented....would hit the shelves at any reptile supply place and sell like hotcakes. I know for a FACT that I've never seen one either.

I want to say the UTH's I'm talking about were sold at either LLL or BigApple but then discontinued for whatever reason.

    .
That was my initial thought. However, when you consider you have a UTH that needs to be plugged into a separate thermostat/rheo you would think you likelihood of failure is even greater than a single unit that can't become disconnected and could be protected from overheating with a simple fuse.

Then consider that places like petsmart/petco sell most of their reptile equiptment to people who have one single snake to begin with.....if you've got a rack you're going to go and and probably get flexwatt instead. I'd bet a pretty penny that the husbandry sales to single animal customers are greater than to those with large collections.

Take this website for example....a lot of people with sizable collections.....and a BOATLOAD of people with single snakes.
