Monty is back at my house temporaryly I hope.
Monty was not happy at the guy's house who has been keeping him for a few months now. He has become quite the angry worm. his lower jaw is smashed up from striking the glass in the enclosure he was being kept in. The work I did on tap training him seams to be all fail now. Anything that comes near him puts him in full attack mode. He is back in the enclosure I originally had him in. 4 ft 2 ft 2 ft. He curled up on the warm side last night and buried himself under his water dish. Tonight I am going to try to free his lower lip. I think it is stuck on a tooth and cant get it free. Should be interesting considering everything scares him now. The guy that had him says he has no clue why he has gotten so angry and thought would be better to bring him back to his original enclosure to see if he will calm down. I had to cover the glass to get him to stop striking at everything that went by it and put him in a dark room. Full quarantine has been implemented. He is about 10 months old now.
What are things that might effect his personality this way? I figure he is terrified of something? What else can I do to make him feel happy and safe? Vet visit in order? Approaching breeding season effecting him?
He was so calm before and easy to handle.
I got a very fuzzy photo of his face I will post. He was still curled up when I left for work this morning.

Just like with human males, we can hope... Just keep working with him and have a lot of patience.
Also if his mouth is hurting, say from an abscessed tooth, that could also explain some of the behavior.

Checking him out after work today. Going to be interesting. I bet he pees on me and tries to eat me when I look at it. LOL.

OK. After freeing his lip and pulling a bad tooth with the help of my vet (I did the work while she supervised) he calmed down some and relaxed a bit. I will check on his mouth in a day or 2 to make sure he has no lingering issues.

Well, what do you know? He had a good reason for "acting out". Good snek!

Poor Monty glad you got that tooth out ( I am sure that wasn't easy task) hopefully he will settle down with a regular routine and carefully handling to remind him people are friends not food (sorry my kiddos loved Finding Nemo too much) best wishes always

He is still being cage defensive but not as grumpy. He refused to back down from the hook before. Now he looks then I tap him and he runs away. After he is out he is super chill again. His mouth is healing well.
