    Exo Terra Crocodile Skull?

    So I just got this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Exo-Terra-Cro.../dp/B0074AQPVM

And I was wondering if it's safe to put in my BP's tank? I've heard that because of how sharp the teeth/edges are they can be a hazard, and sometimes need sanded down? I've also heard to fill it with paper or something so the snake doesn't try to get inside (and gets stuck).

There's not much space inside, and to be honest he could probably barely fit his head through the eye holes. I doubt he'd interact with it much, but what do you guys think?

for you to have even the slightest hesitation should be enough of an answer for you; i just wouldn't risk it. there's plenty of horror stories on here with people having the same doubts as you ending up with a snake bleeding and stuck in some decor.

If I don't use it with my snake, I'll use it with my other animals. I'm about to get a bunch of tadpoles so I'm sure they'll love swimming in and out of it. However, do you think if I sand it down and stuff it with something it might be safe? It sure would be awesome to be able to use it in his tank, but if there's really no way to make it safe, he's more important to me than a bit of decor.

sure. ive had to sand down naturalistic hides before as they had some pokey parts i didn't like. you just need to be aware of the risk involved with that decor (the eye holes are my biggest concern), and recognize that the snake is the one who has to deal with the consequences of your risk.

not trying to scare you i promise!!!

Yup! They aren't made for snakes. There are too many horror stories surrounding hides like those.

I notice a lot of Exo Terra stuff needs to be sanded down but once it's sanded and washed it's pretty good stuff. I had to sand down this cave but it's pretty good quality once it's sorted.

I have a bruise on my arm from just holding one of these things for someone yesterday while they filled out paperwork. @_@

I would put it in with a beardie or a leopard gecko but never with my snakes.
