Quarantine Blues? Host a Virtual Reptile Show!

I have found a weird new calling. I work in marketing for a Global IT company and in this new time of COVID, we are all work from home.

Recently, after hearing how many of my teammates were struggling to work from home with their anxious and bored children, I offered to entertain the kiddos over a lunchtime break by hosting “Hilary’s Zoom Zoo”. A group of about ten 3-10 year-olds were held in rapt attention as I pulled out one after another of my lovely creepy-crawlies. Naturally my magnificent white bp stole the show. I saved him for last.

It was a rousing success! Word spread rapidly and now I’m hosting weekly meet & greets for employees and their families in multiple time zones! And getting a nice bit of exec recognition to boot. I swear, I do it for the kids - lol.

Anywhoo, if you find yourself in a similar situation here’s a great way to:

    A) Show off your collection
    B) Earn some corporate cred for lifting team spirits during a crisis
    C) Educate your teammates who previously thought you were the weird one on the team who likes snakes, but now think you’re amazing because you entertained their stir-crazy kids who they’re about to murder

Won’t show the kiddos who attended but here’s a screenshot of me mimicking their amazement at seeing Neptune!

    Great idea!

I wonder if teachers of older children can do this for their classes to have their students give interactive presentations?

I mean, the opportunities are endless when you start thinking about it! Time to get innovative while we’re all defining a “new normal”.

I’m having the time of my life combining my passion with my job.

    Unfortunately, I'd break the camera.

Though I was thinking of putting up cameras in my snake enclosures to stream.

Oh I doubt that. Besides - with your super cool collection, nobody’s going to be looking at you anyway!

This sounds really cool! I've always wondered what snakes do when we aren't watching. But for a snake like a BP the answer is probably "not much" most of the time LOL!
