~~~UPDATE #1~~~
My BP just ate his frozen adult mouse, so that's good.
Re: Leaving my BP for 6 days. Many questions.
Is there not someone who can watch your bp? If I'm ever gone, my mom or friend is usually able to come over and check on him every once and a while. 6 days isn't that long to a BP though, and your plan sounds fine. Have a fun trip!
I think your snake will be fine: hopefully his water bowl is tip-proof, but even if he tipped it, he'd certainly survive a week without water. I'm assuming his
heat source(s) is/are regulated by thermostat? That's not just for comfort but especially for safety. Have a good trip!
I would leave multiple smaller water bowls so if one gets pooped or peed in, the other will still be available.
I wouldn't turn the A/C off completely, maybe leave it set to something like 78-80*F, just in case we get another severe heat wave.
To GpBp: we will be having some people feed and water the cats but I have a really hard time trusting people with my BP.
To Bogertophis: I don't think he could tip that water bowl because it ways 5 times more than him, although he does try and dig under it every once in a while. And yes, my heat pad is controlled by a thermostat.
To bcr229: Yeah, I'll probably do that.
Hey guys, I'm getting really paranoid because I'm worried of my JumpStart Thermostat breaking and overheating. I've had it for 2 months and it's worked greatly. Anything anyone can say to stop me from worrying? Thanks.
Install a dimmer switch between the thermostat and the heat appliance, set so if the thermostat weren't there the appliance would hit 95*F or so. That way if the thermostat fails the appliance will get hot enough to make your snake uncomfortable but not burn it.
Hello people, I wasn't able to get a dimmer switch in the short time period that I had. I will be leaving for the airport in 3 hours and I am very worried about the JumpStart thermostat. It works great, but I'm worried something could break while I'm away. Should I turn it off? My house temp will be 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Is this something to consider? Thanks again.
