    How Long using Het

How long would it be to get a morph using hets. Say you get a het albino pair this year as juvies how long before you get a viable morph.

    Re: How Long using Het

using a punnette(sp?) square out of every 4 you would get one morph 2 hets and one normal

you should check this out http://www.ballpython.ca/genetics.html

    Re: How Long using Het

you meen like how long it will take your snakes to be able to breed?

with a pair of hets in one breeding season you would have a viable morph. adam knows everything about breeding though, he could give you the details.

    Re: How Long using Het

you would need to raise the female to breeding size before you could even breed...so between 2-3 years just to breed....then you have to 'hit the odds' and actually produce an albino...which may or may not happen when breeding hets together...it all depends on how the genetics of the offspring fall....you will have a 1 in 4 chance of each seperate egg being an albino....the more eggs you produce the better your chances of actually producing one albino..

    Re: How Long using Het

It would take as long as it takes for both of them to be breedable. mr python is right , with two hets it would take one breeding season in theory. Sometimes though odds may be against you.

hope adam comes to clear stuff up

Oh I screwed that up. I think I wasi thinking about 1 normal and 1 het. When breeding does it matter which sex is het.

    Re: How Long using Het

    Two things ....

    1. If you don't know what you're talking about, lets please stick to reading threads rather than trying to answer questions. It's just ridiculous to see things like "I don't know but lets ask adam" posted in these threads.

    2. If you were to buy a male het and a female normal, it would take 2 - 3 years to get them up to breeding size and produce possible het females which you would then need another 2 - 3 years to raise up and breed back to their father potentially giving you a visible morph if you're lucky in between 5 and 7 years. I've done it and it's a great way to go if you have more time than money.
