    Enclosure Insualtion - Need it??

It was noted by Bob @ proproducts when I bought my RHP to use a piece of 1" foil faced insulation underneath my enclosure to help w/ heat loss and electricity costs. Does anyone else subscribe to this theory? I have some 1" styrofoam that I can use or does foil faced insulation work better? And does this look unsightly underneath the cage?? FTR, I have a AP T10 pvc enclosure. Thanks.

I can't speak for AP or PVC, but I can say this: I wrap my glass enclosures in 1/2" foam board insulation, with the foil side facing in and it helps immensely with heat and humidity control.
As far as aesthetically pleasing, it's easy enough to paint and make look nice. And seeing as you'd only need to put it along the bottom since you've got PVC, it'll be very easy to make "disappear".
I haven't worked with Bob yet, but will be when I do complete my enclosure upgrades. His reputation speaks for itself. I wouldn't hesitate to follow his advice. You can get a 4×8 sheet of 1/2" for less than $15. I'm not sure about 1", but you could always buy a sheet of 1/2" and double it up and still have extra.

Thanks Craig. I went to the local Home Depot and this is the closest thing I found. It’s a roll of Reflectix which says it will reflect 96% of the radiant energy that strikes its surface. It’s pretty thin but I guess I can 4x it to make an inch and/or I can introduce the 1inch sheets of styrofoam I saved up. Thoughts?

Hmmmm. Looks like it show work really well. I'm not quite sure how I would do it, maybe glue it down onto the Styrofoam you have?
