Tall tank for hermit crabs ok?

    Hello, all!

I asked this question on my hermit crab forums, but nobody answered satisfactorily. I figured I might ask here.

I currently have four small hermit crabs in a ten gallon horizontal. I would like to upgrade them to a 34 tall. It measures 18x18x24 inches and is an upgrade in room on all three dimensions, plus front doors (one likes to hang from the lid, which interferes with care). I know how they love to climb, but my main concern is falling. How far can they fall safely? They might land on plastic dishes, other shells, etc. I would have deep substrate.

I am on my phone and cannot link, but go to petsmart.com and look for "Sri Lanka". That is the specific tank.
