What instrument do you play?
Maybe this has been asked before, but do we have any band/orchestra/etc. members? Ill start
I played violin for the past couple years, and just switched to viola this summer! Its a little challenging to switch, but I'm taking lessons and I'm getting the hang of it. I'm excited to hear your replys!

I wish!!! I don't have a musical bone in my body.
I played snare drum in my 5th and 6th grade band and that was a challenge for me. I've tried piano, guitar and bass as well as playing a full drum set...uh-uh. Not gonna happen.
I've said many times "in my next life I hope I'm a musician". I was given athletic genes this time around. But I'll tell ya, it takes it's toll on the body. I'll be 40 in January and I have a hard time getting out of a chair some days, or putting on my socks. I've got multiple screws and a metal rod in my body. I've had multiple surgeries. I have arthritis in my hands, shoulder and knees. I have just recently started cortisone steroid injections in my shoulder and knees and will be getting knee replacements within a handful of years.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade all the memories for the world. Hockey has taken me all over the north east, as well as PA and the Chicago area and several parts of Canada. I've skated on the same ice as the Bruins in the state finals, skated on the same ice surface that the 1980 Miracle on Ice happened (chills head to toe, even all these years later) and even had a gold medal draped over my neck on that same surface Team USA did. I had scouts looking at me to play D-1 and possibly more...but I'd like a new body please, mine is broken.
I no longer play, it's just not worth the pain any more. But music you can play practically forever. I also can't just play hockey by myself, but I could play a guitar any time I wanted (if I could actually play, hahaha).
I did well with the ladies, often times just because I was a hockey player, but nothing gets the ladies like a guitar and a good singing voice...

Re: What instrument do you play?
I don't play an instrument but I have been called the songbird of my generation, by people who've heard me.

Do you sound like a combination of Fergie and Jesus?

Nothing thrashes your body (in terms of injuries) like some sports, but anything we do for a living often results in "wear & tear" from over-use...even musicians!
I know a few....and even playing guitar can cause arthritis in one's hands in time, & "then what?" Or bad feet & knees from all that standing & lugging heavy equip-
ment- the things we don't think about them doing. Still, sometimes I wish I'd been a musician too....or an ice skater? Oh well...(careful what we wish for?)
As far as music, there are instruments I've tried & wish I could play (gave up), but at least I do enjoy singing too (privately, anyway).

Re: What instrument do you play?
I play the Violin & the Viola (Lindsey Stirling inspired me to play Violin and Twoset Violin inspired me to play Viola.)
I have been playing Violin for three years and Viola for about nine months.
@Gpbp
Switching from the violin from the viola is pretty hard. I recently upgraded mine two weeks ago (the viola I had before was the same size as my violin) and now it's a little challenging for me too. Don't worry, you're not the only one who is struggling with switching!

I played the violin a long, long time ago in high school, and also the electric bass. Played the bass up to about 8 years ago, then it got to be too painful (health issues) It can’t be a lot of fun, that’s for sure. I definitely miss it.
