    Outdoor time for Obi

Got some cool weather after a storm here in Texas, so a couple snakes got to make trips to the great outdoors! By far the funniest to me was Obi, my spider ball python. He took great joy in refusing to sit still for pictures and pretending to he a green tree python rather than a ball python. Don't tell him he can't climb down a 3.5+ foot tall table without assistance.

Place snake on table, attempt to get a decent picture. Nope

Cruising on down about a foot to the only cross bars on the table leg

    Green tree python immitation

Continuing down, only thing left on the cross beam now is the end of his tail. Impressive grip on damp painted metal to super the rest of himself.

    Seconds before first contact

And escaped onto the floor! Shockingly he did not drop his tail end at all after reaching ground, it was all very smooth until he was fully on the ground.

    Re: Outdoor time for Obi

And I was totally hovering the whole time debating whether to let him do it, or pick him up to keep him from falling. Curiosity won this time.

He may be a spider with all that entails (wobble with food and a tendency to move as if there is no gravity or up/down), but he is apparently not phased at all when it comes to climbing down things.

I think he's absolutely adorable! I wonder if the Great Pytheenie does tightropes too?

Love it! Always funny watching a ball python climb, theyre bodies sre sorta akward for that, but every day they seem to surprise us.

    Pretty snake! Great pictures.

    Re: Outdoor time for Obi

I could really see how he was gripping and squeezing to not slide down. Especially near the top before I started recording. It was pretty impressive! Especially for Obi, who is notorious at home for nearly falling off arms and anything with clothing on it.
