    Brumation

I live in southern california, as does the friend who is really interested.
How would we brumate our hognoses?
Mine arent anywhere close so im not in a rush (theyre both literally 25 grams each).
Hes looking at next year possible.

I know you lower temps, i know about no food two weeks prior, extra substrate, hide, fresh water (like always), dark/shorter light periods, but would we move them to a different room? Would a fridge/wine cooler setup work?

I used to live in So Cal myself, in the high desert, which gets some cold temps in winter, & even a bit of snow now & then. When I brumated some of my
snakes, I found that the floor in the closet of a closed-off bedroom was adequate & dark. It's not necessary or desirable that the temperatures approach
40*, as refrigerators do; around 50* worked for mine.

All you need is to cool them down between 55 to 60 for a little as a month, what I do is I put everyone in my unfinished basement during in December and bring them back up in January.

I am not a fan of the cooler or fridge idea, in case something goes wrong and because of the lack of airflow.

I can recall mine were waking up around 55*. Just remember that temperatures determine their metabolic rate...they should be healthy & have good body weight
before brumation, otherwise don't. And btw, the idea of using a refrigerator was a huge turn-off for me too...glad it's not just me. Safety first!
