    Pre-GTP advice

I have ordered the enclosure. It should arrive soon. I plan on engineering a higher water dish. The enclosure comes with perches and a RHP. Where should I place the thermostat probe? I'm pretty sure I'm getting a youngster. Cage size has been a concern on some care sheets. Mine will be 36×24×24. Should I engineer a temporary wall to make it smaller? Any tips would be appreciated.

If possible run the setup for a few days or a week so you can make sure that the temps and humidity are spot on. The cage may be a bit big, but if your lucky that wouldn't cause any problems. Some people start them off in tubs and then move to cages. Others start off in cages without issues.

I plan on running it for at least a month prior. That's what I did for my BP and in the end was valuable practice time. I've got the enclosure. I engineered thinner perches, a shelf for an elevated water dish, and a place for the probe. Just need to add some finishing touches. I'll take a picture tonight and put it on here for opinions.

Things that I have read but have no experience with a GTP.

Perches need to be close to size of snake in diameter.
Water bowl and floor easily reached from perch.
A way to hide while still on perch. Live or safe plastic plants that make the snake feel safe.

    Good luck.

I like how the water bowl is up higher. The only thing I'd say is maybe use a digital temp and humidity gauage.
