    Another leak yesterday!!!!!

Some of you may remember I had a 55 gallon fish tank spring a leak back in November...

Well, it happened again. Another 55 gallon fish tank sprung a leak!! I came home from work to find about 25-30 gallons had drained from the tank and it was still dripping at a pretty good rate.
Fortunately, after losing 3 fish in the March power outage I haven't added any new fish and the tank had just one Oscar in it. My 75 gallon had two Oscars and now has three.

I'm not buying another tank, and I've decided my three Oscars will be my last three fish. I hope they live for year's to come, but moving forward I will be getting out of the fish game and will be sticking to no new pets other than snakes for the foreseeable future.

Sucks about the leak man tanks aren’t cheap . Is there any way of repairing the tank with some sort of silicone ?

Yes, you should be able to re-do their silicone sealant. How old are the tanks? That's a real messy disadvantage of keeping fish versus snakes, for sure.
The only thing worse (WAY worse) would be a water-bed leak...

Sounds like you could use some Flex Tape. It works under water you know? I've seen it on TV so it's real.

I have no desire to fix them at this point. I'm down to one tank and perfectly content that way.

One was probably 6-8 years old (got it from my brother) and the one that leaked yesterday was a little over 2 years old.

So now I have two 55 gallon tanks in my basement...but I have a hair-brained idea for them. I'm going to talk to a metal fab guy I know and see what he thinks.
More on that at a later date...

    Re: Another leak yesterday!!!!!

That's really unfortunate about the tanks!

That seems like bad luck for leaks to me. I've got a really old 58 gallon tank (40 breeder footprint, with a couple extra vertical inches). I know it's at least 20 something years old (handed from my grandparents to my dad to my grandparents and back to me) and probably hasn't been resealed for at least 15 of those. It is still holding water well, luckily. We tested it thoroughly before setting it up 2 years ago and all the silicone looks in good shape.
