New Snake Mom Doing Her Best

I just got my first snake ever. She's a 2 year old pastel butter bp, and absolutely my favorite buddy in the whole world. I was definitely overwhelmed when I adopted her, but I wouldn't give her up for anything. I'm really glad I found this website. It's been incredibly helpful while I've dealt with making sure her conditions are perfect. Thanks for being awesome!

As for myself, I'm a college student studying liberal arts and dance. I love animals, and so I have an old puppy at home along with my snake. They get along great and it's pretty adorable.

Welcome, I'm glad you found the forum and it's invaluable resources.

I would just like to say be SUPER careful with a snake and a dog out in the same room. They are both wild animals, after all and can be unpredictable. It could turn real ugly, real fast. When my snakes are out, my other animals are locked away. It's simply not worth the risk.

I'm always very careful. I make sure someone else has the dog if she's around. He's an old cocker spaniel who can't reach her while she's on my shoulders, which is where I keep her while my old man of a dog is around. He is generally too small and old to get to her if he tried (which is unlikely as I have never seen or heard of him biting a single living thing in his life). I appreciate it though, and I'll definitely make sure to be extra aware of other animals.

Your dog & snake are both adorable & we're glad to have you join us here.

The thing to keep in mind is that while neither of your pets wants to hurt the other, what I could personally envision happening is that your BP could sense the
dog's warmth (remember those heat sensing pits?) & end up sinking his teeth into your sweet dog's nose. It just wouldn't be pretty. (I have 2 older dogs and lots
    of snakes too.)
