So it started off as a joke....

So it started off as a joke. Lucy died and we were trying to come up with a place to burry her. She has been frozen in the freezer this entire time. She was loved very much.

In very poor taste I might add, I made the joke, "I wonder what redtails taste like?". This got me to thinking. Is it a waste to just burry her?

I know is more of a joke, but the thought did cross my mind. LOL

I wonder how badly I will be trolled by this? LOL

Personally, it would never occur to me to eat any of my pets...any more than I'd wonder what other family members taste like. Sick joke indeed,
for anyone not stranded on a remote mountain top without food for long enough to question one's personal survival.

Ax01 made a poll about whether you would choose to eat snake or not. the responses were surprisingly in favor of eating and enjoying it, while the other top responses were people that would like to try it.

i'm in the camp of wanting to try it someday.

this is a little dark, considering she was your pet and not raised for food, but i don't think the forum will bash you too hard. people cope in varying, often baffling ways.

Burying isn't a waste though. Unless you are burying somewhere odd, something is going to eat your snake. Even if it is just bugs and worms. Otherwise they will fossilize or mummify.

I ate python last summer, and I'd eat it again...
But NOT one of mine, or any of my pets for that matter. I don't see animals I'm eating as animals so much as just food. I never held them, looked into their eyes, watched them swim, bonded with them or named them. They're just food. But one of my pets, no way...

My deceased animals are all buried (mostly fish). I don't see it as a waste. I see it as a final goodbye.

I myself can't separate the pet from the species. As soon as I name it, I stop eating it and all it's relatives.

I have zero desire, or even curiosity, to eat snake of any kind.

I mean, rattlesnake is really good...

I wouldn't eat one if I ever decide to make a "hot" collection and it died, though. I'm far too attached to any of my animals. I do enjoy myself a dark joke here and there, though!

I've never really thought/heard of someone freezing a deceased snake/pet in general while waiting for a burial, is this common practice...? Usually I would go straight to finding a spot.
