Re: Solana - Our Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn

Solana weighed in at 64G again this week, but I think this is a "true weight." She held a little in going into shed and ate right after. She spent the better part of the week, "emptying out." She's getting pretty good at that. She's definitely a corn snake. Between her and her brother, Figment, then can clear the reptile area. So weird. All the pythons and Boas can go at the same time and it's not as bad. Oh well. Anyway, she's doing great and is as outgoing and sweet as ever. Oh yeah, and gorgeous. Did I mention gorgeous?

She's still young, but when she's of age, wow!

Her scaleless orange skin is going to bring all the male snakes to the corn field!

Solana, AKA Poop Machine, weighed in dry yesterday at 69G. She's a growing girl! She's still incredibly calm and sweet and gentle. Such an antithesis to her "brother," Figment. He's a sweet guy too, don't get me wrong, he's just active as anything. Solana can move when she wants, but she's generally really calm.

Re: Solana - Our Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn

Good news and bad news, but mostly good news.

Solana began a premature shed last week. Some of her body was shedding, but most wasn't. Additionally, she got a little rug burn/had a little skin come off with the premature shed. It's a small spot, but I am keeping it dry and clean in her tank to ensure it doesn't get in infected. I did send pictures and speak with Don Soderberg and he said it would correct itself in a few shed cycles and not to worry; it happens.

I am not sure what precipitated the premature shed, but it's her first, so I will take it in stride. Don also said that she would have 1-2 more before returning to a normal shed cycle.

The good news is a few days of putting her in a moist box and all the shed came off fine yesterday along with eye caps, etc. It ended up a being a thorough shed, even if some came off early.

She looks stunning and I weighed her dry and she's 86G! Wow!

I have been feeding hopper mice (F/T - 8-12G) for a while and will continue to do so for some time. She has some size now and I don't need her growing too fast. Corn snakes are good about putting excess food towards growth, but I don't want to risk her becoming unhealthy. A little less food intake per meal (relative to size) is probably a good thing at this point. At 100-120G I'll move her up to weaned mice.

    Below are some pictures.
