    CHE installation TIPS

So later on these days after my python sheds I will finally install my CHE, which i will be regulating using a Herpstat EZ2. Before actually doing it I wanted to ask some questions for better results.
    - Can I use aluminium foil as protector between my CHE and the screen lid? If not what are better materials?
    - What happens if my snake gets close to that foil, get burned?
    - Should i place the CHE on top of the screen lid by the hot side, medium or cold side? my temps can get pretty looow(as low as 71F on cold side).
    - using the Herpstat EZ2 should i configure the temps lower or hotter than what i need in the ball python tank.
    - Where to put the probe.
-Whats the life of a CHE on a herpstat that will be constantly turning it on and off as it reaches the configured temps.

The Herpstat will also be plugged with a heat mat on its second output. Thanks in advance.
