matt, how do those Zoomed tstats hold up compared to ranco or johnsons? My brother just moved out of my place so I am setting him up an enclosure for his columbian/hogg island BCI that is currently residing in my rack....ha...so expect an order sometime soon

For an on/off type tstat, I actually like the zoo-med better than any other brands in its price range. As far as whether its better than a ranco or johnson, I'll leave that up to Matt...I doubt it compares in quality though..

They dont come close to JC or ranco.. If your looking for something temporary or for a single cage operation.. Then I would recommend them... Nothing over say 150 watts.. Hope this helps

i have one of the zoo med 500R thermostats that i used to use and that i now keep for "just in case". i definitely like it better than the BAH-1000 thermostat that big apple and others sell--it keep the temps a bit more steady. though obviously it doesn't compare AT ALL to the herpstat which is what i use now. you have to be willing to check your temps several times a day and manually adjust them with pretty much any of the less expensive thermostats.

I love the Herpstat as well! Awesome proportional. As far as the Zoo Med, I use it for my Hog Island and it keeps the hot spot at 88-93 depending on the room temp (the room is about 84 during the day and about 78 at night). That temp range works fine!
