there's a hole in my feeder small rat

hello all! i'm hoping for a quick response as it's feeding day.

so there's a hole in the rat. i've never seen something like this before so it concerned me. is this still okay to feed? idk why it wouldn't but i just want a second opinion.

    thank you!

Maybe they use one of those puncture tools like they do with cattle?

I'm still new to the Hobby so I definitely err on the side of caution in all situations LOL I'm not aware of the various transmittable diseases between the mice and the snakes but I know personally if I had question I would get a new mouse lol I'm super paranoid of screwing up though

Re: there's a hole in my feeder small rat

My first thought would be a bolt gun as well, but I haven't heard of them being used with rodents.

I've also only ever heard of them being used on the head.

That's definitely odd. If it was me and I had extras, I'd probably feed an alternate just to be super safe until I could contact the seller and ask. I can't imagine what it would be that could be harmful, but that's just what I would personally do because I'm paranoid lol

thank you. i'm thinking it might have come from me taking the rats out of the package and separating them, as they tend to stick together. the clean lil circle sent off an alarm in my head.

I hate to think what the hole was caused by (perhaps Russtix is right?) but as long as it doesn't smell "off" I would think it's safe to feed.
