    Quick caging question!

I know there are lots of great companies out there that make tons of great caging options. I'm looking to upgrade my young Dumeril's enclosure, and while I've been scouring craigslist, etc for good finds, I feel like it would be just as cost effective to simply order her a T8 from Animal Plastics instead of wasting more time. I know alot of you use this particular setup for BP's and such...wondering how you like it?

I haven't been considering any enclosure with a 12' height but...do you guys feel like it's sufficient for a terrestrial species? It's not going to be her forever home or anything, but I feel like it will suit her for a few years still (she's growing at a nearly imperceptible rate!). It's a good price point and has a quick-ship option, which is nice. I know many people drop ship RHP's to Animal Plastics for installation as well. Is that more of a hassle than just screwing them in? (not being patronizing - I literally have no idea. I am the least handy person ever. Which explains why I have an 80-W RHP sitting in my closet, as I gave up trying to alter it to fit an Exo-Terra!)

Anyway, just gathering some opinions! This enclosure would be for a tiny 1.5 year old Dumeril's who is around 32 inches long.

My advice is spend the extra for a T10. I have 3 T8s and 3 T10s as well as 3 T25s and i wish i would have just waited for T10s. I have one of my T8s empty and is being used as a housing cage for when i want to clean quick and dont want to have to watch snakes i got out. So i stuff them in the T8 so i can focus on cleaning. But the extra 3 inches doesnt sound like much but it is when you clean the cages lol.

Yeah, that seems like a smarter way to go....12" just seems really short. I was just excited because it was a quick ship item instead of one that takes 3 months

Well, it's not exactly 12 inches. Thats the total height of the cage. When i talked to Ali about an exact measurement, she said the inside is actually about 11 inches since you are looking at an OD and ID measurement difference.

Yeah, i was excited too about not waiting.....but wish i did lol.

    Re: Quick caging question!

I would never get a T8 after all the people on here explained the hight deal. My friend now has one and honestly its a big pain. Imagine 11 inches and trying to reach in 23 inches deep to clean.. I'll wait 3 months any day before kicking myself for not being patient and getting something for $50 less and a month sooner and sacrificing what i really can use comfortably for me and several full grown species. I have T12's.

    Re: Quick caging question!

I just got my T8 and even though its a quick ship item its on back order and it took somewhere between 2 to 3 months for me to get it anyways.

    Boaphile 422D

you could also get one of these in same or less time, 1-piece, ready-to-go with RHP professionally installed.
I have a 322, it is an awesome, well made, beautiful cage (I prefer the 1 drop down door)
