Snake Voice Recognition?

Hi guys! Recently, I have noticed a behavior that keeps popping up in Paarthurnax. It seems now, every time im by the cage and speak for a small while, he peeks out, leaning about 2 inches of his neck out to see whats going on. My guess is that he knows now that i'm connected with feeding time, and this is his way of seeing if he gets fed, but has anyone else expected this? Haven't had much time to do research on the subject, but I was mainly curious if this has happened with other keepers. While he's peeking out, he also has never struck (i've picked him up and handled while he was doing this, acted like normal), so I'm getting the idea that feeding mode isn't completely turned on until he smells the rat, and just knows i'm the one who brings it (feed me, peasant!).

snakes are deaf in like the conventional way of having complete ear parts for hearing. they use their belly and jaw to detect vibration. do u have a really deep bass voice that your BP can feel?

anyway glad u got a nice and friendly snake that will greet u when it senses u around.

Yeah, some of my snakes will come to a human voice, particularly my gf since she definitely talks to them more than I do. I'm assuming her voice must bounce off of things and they somehow can feel it since some of them will definitely come out when they hear her.

I dont think they can hear us, but they can smell us extremely well, and ball pythons can “see” our heat signature.

Mine know my scent, and they know im chill. They dont like strangers scent

Quite interesting. I have noticed that with other people, he's much more defensive, though he still hasn't ever bitten anyone. Pretty cool to have a reptile that greets you, lol.

They hear, just in a different way. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they could distinguish different voices based on the frequency/vibrations. Maybe not as well if everyone is airborne while they're talking so leave the moon shoes outside.

They can definitely sense vocal vibrations if nothing else, and also distinguish between different vocal pitches.
Proof of this I personally witnessed, here is the story.

For a period of about 3 years, I used to go and feed 13 African House Snakes, that a woman had.
I did this every 10 days or so. She could not bear to feed them.

While waiting for the thawing process to complete, we would normally sit in the snake room and talk about whatever, having a beer or coldrink.
After about 4 to 5 minutes of talking you would see heads start to pop out of hide boxes. This never occurred when she and her children were talking in the snake room.

So we did a test, with me going to feed one day and not making a sound for about 15 minutes or so, I then started talking and lo and behold, after a couple of minutes, the heads started popping out of the hide boxes. The only thing I can put it down to is that they associated my Vocal Vibration and Pitch, with food.
