    Temp gun

Was wondering people's thoughts on if I need a digital thermometer with probe over my UTH if I use a temp gun often enough? Doesn't it get kinda redundant?

I've got two , one upstairs , one down ..
I'd say they're possibly the most important bit of kit I have , thermostats aside .

They're great for random testing of your temps , warm hide surface temp , cool hide etc ... I even use them for quick check of aquarium water temps ..

Great for just checking temps if one of your snakes is acting strangely / oddly ... trying to escape at any cost .

At about 7 dollars off eBay they're a must .

As Zincubus stated, you can order them off eBay but also Amazon. I try to do Amazon before eBay solely because it's much easier to deal with returns. For the most part they're pretty accurate, as I've tested them against different temp guns and usually within a degree.

Just keep in mind you don't want to shoot reflective surfaces, like glass or metal. The reading will be wrong.

I see no reason to add another probe and thermometer if you are using your gun often and checking temps.

    I personally don’t.

I use one of he accurites wireless to keep tabs on ambient and humidity.

I gun the enclosure once or twice a day and really do a full temp check either prior to or after a handling session and also during cleaning.

Yep , very accurate / consistent.

These two were made by different companies , four years apart and read the same ..

    Re: Temp gun

Cool, I ordered one off amazon last night. Nubee temp gun. 4/5 stars out of like 1,600 reviews seems pretty good to me.

A temp gun is a must have in my opinion. Especially considering how inexpensive they are.

As for thermometers, I use probeless Accuritres in my enclosures. Indoor/outdoor thermometer/hygrometer in one for about $10 each. I have 2 in each enclosure.
