Incubation Humidity
My female just laid today and I put the eggs in my incubator. I have a tub inside my incubator. I'm using the substrateless method so I have water in the tub and the egg crate stuff over the water. According the the incubator the humidity in the tub is around 50% but I have no idea how this is possible since there is nowhere for the humidity to escape the tub. It is covered with press and seal and the only hole is where the probes go in. I'm really concerned about this and I'm hoping that the gauge is just off. I ordered another to double check. But in the meantime is this something I should worry about, and how can I increase the humidity if the gauge is right?

I would add damp sphagnum moss to the sides until the new gauge gets in. As long as the eggs aren't wet or being dripped on, it's hard to have too much moisture.

What kind of hygrometer are you using?

Re: Incubation Humidity
Thanks for the replies. I had a second incubator and I swapped out the gauges from that and it went up to 91%. My new combometer came in and it's saying 99% so I think I'm good now. Just a bad hygrometer in my incubator. I'm using a Farm Innovations reptile incubator. I've had a couple issues with these and next season I'm going to get a better one.

Re: Incubation Humidity
I had the same issue when I set up my eggs earlier this month. Sometimes it takes a while for the humidity to build up in the freshly set up tub so if you check it a couple hours later it’s usually at 99%. I almost had I melt down when my humidity wasn’t going up. I have the same set up as you but I checked hours later and everything was good. Keep us updated on your eggs! Can’t wait to see some babies
