Beginner Snake for a 406 tank

I didnt know that you could tell if they would be guaranteed feeder or not when they grow older. Is there any way to know if one will be a good feeder when it grows up?

I dont know any breeders but i trust the store i go to.

I read somewhere that its best not to have a screen top with a Rosy Boa, something about them rubbing their nose on it. Any truth to this? If so what could I replace the screen top with.

I've kept my rosys in tanks with screen tops and I've never had a problem with them rubbing their noses on it. They're pretty reclusive, so as long as you give them a few good hides they won't be out much unless they're hungry. Screen tops are a great way to keep humidity low, and that's exactly what they need. They're a desert snake and if humidity gets too high it can cause feeding issues.

That said, I think a 40 gal may be a bit big depending on the type of rosy. My Mexican Rosys are small adults, both under 30 inches in length. I wouldn't put them in anything bigger than a 20 gal long, but I've heard that Coastals get bigger.
