The New Enclosure Is Done (+ Photos)

    Hi,

I really wanted to share my ball python's new enclosure.
Last week I suddenly found ants in my ball python's old enclosure and since I wanted to move him to a larger enclosure anyway, I decided that I would do that immediately. (By the way after I moved him and thoroughly cleaned the old enclosure the ants were never seen again.)
Sadly I didn't (and still don't) have everything I wanted to decorate the enclosure with but within the next month I'll fully furnish the enclosure. Today is also the first day I tried to feed him and he took the rat almost immediately.
The enclosure is quite big. It's 150 cm (59 inches) x 68 cm (27 inches) x 80 cm (31 inches) big. I know that's a lot but I found out that my ball python (he's about 1 m in size (which is about 3,2 foot) and weighs about 650 grams at 1 year of age) weirdly seems way more calm in bigger enclosures. At first I was a bit worried that even he might think that the enclosure is too big but after a few days of midnight exploring, he settled down. As mentioned before, he even ate so I'm quite happy at the moment.
The terrarium has two heat lamps and both of them are regulated by thermostats. The cold spot is at about 79 degrees and the heat spot is at about 89,5 degrees. The hides are right under the CHEs.

Thank you very much. I'll try to make it even more impressive once it's fully done

I didn't build it myself. Someone near my area build this terrarium for his two bearded dragons but both of them died so after about 3 years after their death he wanted to give it away. I thought it was really pretty so I bought it.
It was a lot of work to get the terrarium back in shape. We had remake some parts of the wall and repair some parts that were broken. We also had to build a cabinet base (but it is not completely done yet since he moved earlier than expected). I painted the terrarium again but I really want to put some more hanging plants in there. I'd to have some hanging from the ceiling
The original plan was to go by the theme of a ruin. I have some items still coming that fit perfectly for that.

I think you have the same opinion as my snake when it comes to ledges Personally I really enjoy the look of it and I like to see him rest up there (But I've only seen it once).

It's exactly 150 cm long which is about 4,91 feet but I agree that it doesn't look that big in the pictures.
Haha, you gotta love ball pythons
I'm happy to know that there are other ball pythons out there that do that. I know how you feel. After his first night in the new enclosure I went to check on him in the morning like I always do. I found two of the plants had moved to the side and were sightly tilted. It was obvious that he took the night to explore his new enclosure

    Outstanding! Well done

I'm sure Friedrich will love it.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
